Epilogue

AND NOW,  after we have seen home economics, the home, alone and very close, let us place it near the republic and look at both of them from a distance.
We thus see that the republic consists mainly of homes. The home is its main constituent. Without homes, there is no republic. Also, a home looks like a small republic if seen from a distance. With its people, its land, its authority figures.
So the work of political man and the work of economic man -– in the sense given to this term throughout this book –- differ not in substance, but in extent.
Therefore the qualifications of economic man and political man should be the same, in general. And their general principles should be the same. And the spirit that governs their work should be the same.
Political man and economic man help each other and complement each other. And, since we now examine the contribution of home economics to the organization of some republic, we should find what home economics offers to the organization of this republic.
We have already mentioned the organized individual. This individual belongs to the contemporary republic. In what other way could home economics help the organization of the republic as a whole?
We find it sufficient to mention that, which is most important by being most considerable because it is something positive.
This is the experience in matters of organization.
Because political man experiments with some dozens of cases. While economic man experiments with some millions of cases.
Moreover, the time during which economic man has been experimenting is much more than that of political man.
Home was formed first, and then republic followed.
Another reason is the fact that the work of economic man must have quick and direct results. It must attain the goal every time. And attain the goal without disturbing balance.
Every day and every moment, problems of the highest degree of difficulty appear and demand a solution.
Economic man must judge, decide and sometimes enter into action himself, immediately. And, in all these, success and on time readiness must be ensured beforehand.
Otherwise the pulse of the heart of the organization called home will stop.
Moreover, all this work must leave no trace, no hint about how it was done.
We will enjoy the result as something very natural. As something that was done by itself.
As we see the sun rise every morning. As we see the flower open at its time.
So we see that, from the silent individual man-intellect up to the resplendent and grandiose and noisy aggregation, which constitutes the republic, the thread that connects things in the world is one and the same.
There is one and the same thing, which connects the members of each one of these [man-intellect and republic] between them. There is one and the same thing that leads them to life. One thing, that brings them to immortality.
And we will reach this one thing, by always following a system with a goal, with a consistency, with a commitment to the effort for the best possible result each time, if not for the whole, at least for a part of the whole, however small that part might be.
     This one thing is Organization.
Organization is the axis, which will penetrate the centre and reach the surface.
Organization is the axis, around which all must rotate.
Organization is the thread, which will connect the members between them in order to avoid decay and live.
So we will arrive at having an organized inner individual, organized home, organized republic, organized humanity.

DESCARTES SAID,  "I think, therefore I exist". I see myself, therefore I exist.
But what is this “"I”" of Descartes?
Is it what we see with the physical eyes? The wild plants?
Is it that, which appears with the works of the spirit? Is it spiritual man? The fruit of the hothouse?
No. It is the fruit, which the wild tree will give us after grafting. It is the man, whose thought has been nourished, educated and developed by life.
This man may not fill libraries. But he will live and feel everything that exists in them.
His work will be true and his life peaceful.
In his work he will be rigid and thorough. In his life, relaxed and compliant.
In his work, the mold; in life, the clay.
These are the individuals, which contemporary republic will include in its organization when it is realized, and these are the individuals it wants to create. These are also the ones that we want home economics to present to us.
The organized contemporary republic seeks to nurture the workers of truth and to acknowledge the work.
It envisions a living Parthenon on top of the hill of a Golgotha covered with olive trees.
Man of today, having in mind this true piece of art, is digging deep in the earth the foundations of the monument of his time.
The foundations will be deep. They will support the heavenly dome. His monument will include the whole world. Living figures will adorn it. And he will raise it when he will have raised himself.
